SIOP Europe, the European Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOPE) was founded in 1998 as the European branch of SIOP International.
Aiming to serve the growing needs of the European professionals working in the pediatric oncology field, SIOPE:
Promoting comprehensive cancer registration for all affected children and young people
Encouraging maximum recruitment to clinical trials
Facilitating basic research
Setting standards for appropriate professional education
Working in partnership with parents and patients
Lobbying government and administrations to ensure that appropriate resources are available
Priority areas for activity:
Facilitate clinical trials
Provide a common interface for informationexchange
Provide a unified voice to communicate with regulators
Create a common link to the initiatives of the paediatric network launched by the European Medicines Agency (EMA)
The SIOPE office moved to Brussels in 2007 in order to operate more effectively and directly at the European level.
