Organisation SIOPE Mission


In order to serve the growing needs of the European professionals working in pediatric oncology field, SIOP Europe was founded in 1998 as the European branch of SIOP International with its own Board, General Assembly and active groups and committees (Clinical Trials / Trainning & Education).

 

SIOPE Mission:
"To ensure best possible care and outcome for all children and young people with cancer in Europe"    


It does this by:

 

  • Promoting comprehensive cancer registration for all affected children and young people;

  • Encourging maximum recruitment to clinical trials

  • Facilitating basic research

  • Setting standards for appropriate professional education

  • Working in partnership with parents and patients

  • Lobbying government and administrations to ensure that appropriate resources are available

 

SIOPE have defined priority areas for activity as follows:

 

  • Facilitate clinical trials

  • Provide a common interface for information exchange

  • Provide a unified voice to communicate with regulators

  • Create a common link to initiatives of the paediatric network launced by the European Medicines Agency (EMEA).

 

The SIOPE office moved to Brussels in September 2007 in order to operate more effectively and directly at the European level.
