Run for Kids with Cancer… Fintro Dwars door Mechelen

SIOP EUROPE: Building a brighter future for children and adolescents with cancer

Cancer in young people is rare but it is still a major health issue in Europe.

With 35 000 new cases and 6 000 children dying each year, paediatric cancer remains the leading cause of death from disease for children and young people.

SIOP Europe is the only pan-European organisation representing all professions (doctors, scientists, researchers, etc.) working in the field of childhood cancers.  Our mission is to ensure a brighter future for all children and young people affected by cancer in Europe.  We are striving to reach two goals by the year 2025: to increase the cure rate and the quality of cure for children and adolescents with cancer.

Why run with SIOP Europe?  Because every kilometre you run counts in the field of childhood cancer.  Join us on Sunday 30 September 2018 at the FINTRO Mechelen 10K Run (Fintro Dwars door Mechelen).

Working together to build a brighter future for children and adolescents…

We will not stop when we are tired!

We will stop when we are done!

Kids Run

The Kids Run is a 1 kilometre race, created especially for children ages 4 to 12 years.  A participating child can choose to walk or run – everyone can take part at their own pace.  When crossing the finish line, refreshments (drinks and snacks) and medal-souvenir will await.

The participation fee includes

  • Medal upon reaching the finish line;
  • Access to locker rooms and showers at the Nekker Sportpark and the Paardenstraatje;
  • Indication of distance (km) and chrono;
  • Drinking water during the course and at the finish line;
  • Description of the course on;
  • Race results available on;
  • Sportinez insurance during the race. Click here for more information;
  • Race number with chip for 10 km and 5 km participants.

Race number pick up

Runners registered via a group (i.e. SIOP Europe running group) cannot personally pick up their race number but must instead contact the group leader.

Registered group participants will receive confirmation by email and will be invited to pick up their race number at SIOP Europe booth (exact location will be specified in the email).

Timing with chip

The 10 km and 5 km participants will run with an electronic chip.  This electronic chip, glued to the back of the race number, measures the real time between the start and the finish line.  This means that your time only starts running at the moment you cross the starting line.  This enables a more accurate time recording.

The microchip is included in the registration fee.  Please do not fold the race number or remove the stickers from the chip.

Accessibility & parking

Free parking is available at the Sportpark De Nekker car park.  Please note that this car park will be temporarily closed around 14:30pm (starting time for 5 km race).
